WebMD Care Directories offer different levels of profile access and visibility depending on whether your profile is unclaimed, claimed, or Featured. Understanding the differences can help you take control of your online presence and decide which option best supports your practice.
Unclaimed Basic Profile
An unclaimed profile is a provider listing that exists on WebMD Care Directories but has not yet been claimed by the provider or practice.
The profile can display basic information patients use when researching care, including contact information, ratings and reviews, specialties, education and training, and accepted insurance.
We recommend that providers always claim their profile. Claiming your profile allows you to review and customize your basic profile information, helping ensure patients see accurate, up-to-date information about you and your practice.
Claimed Basic Profile
A claimed Basic Profile is a free profile that has been claimed by the provider or practice.
Once claimed, providers can customize their basic profile information, including contact information, specialties, education and credentials, and accepted insurance.
A claimed Basic Profile gives you greater control over how your information appears to patients. However, it does not include the additional visibility, branding, patient engagement, reputation management, and dedicated support available with a Featured Profile.
Featured Profile
A Featured Profile includes the core information available with a Basic Profile, plus additional tools designed to increase your visibility, showcase your practice, and help you connect with more patients.
With a Featured Profile, you can:
- Give patients more ways to connect with your practice. Add your practice website, highlight telemedicine services, and allow patients to request appointment dates and times online.
- Showcase your practice. Add office photos, profile video, your logo, and other enhanced content to help patients learn more about you before choosing care.
- Increase your visibility. Remove competitor ads from your profile and use Prominent Placement to appear at the top of relevant local searches for selected specialties, conditions, services, and procedures.
- Benefit from WebMD and Vitals' search authority. Both sites consistently rank on the first page of Google searches, helping improve your visibility when patients search online.
- Strengthen your online reputation. Reputation Management provides a 360-degree view of your online reputation along with actionable insights to help improve your ratings and reviews.
- Gain additional exposure. Competitive Intercept can display your profile on local competitors' Basic Profiles.
- Get dedicated support. Your Account Manager helps you set up and manage your Featured Profile and provides monthly reporting.
In short: If your profile is unclaimed, claiming it should be your first step so you can review and customize your information for accuracy. A claimed Basic Profile gives you control over your core provider information at no cost, while a Featured Profile adds enhanced visibility, branding, patient engagement, reputation management, and dedicated support to help you grow your online presence.
